Newholme Hospital in Bakewell opens its doors this September
Our team has been instrumental in the redevelopment of the historic Newholme Hospital in Bakewell which will open its doors on the 23rd September 2024. Over the past six years, we’ve collaborated with NHS Property Services and Fisher German LLP to create a detailed development brief, which has been endorsed by the Peak District National Park Authority. This brief ensures the preservation of the site’s heritage while providing clear guidelines for future development. This project highlights our commitment to managing complex developments within conservation areas. Kudos to all the teams involved for successfully navigating this challenging site!

Porritt Care Village in Ramsbottom Approved by Planning Committee Decision
We’re delighted to have secured planning permission for the innovative Porritt Care Village in Ramsbottom, a project that marks a significant milestone in addressing the critical need for dementia care in the area. Despite the challenges of developing within the Green Belt, our team successfully demonstrated the project’s exceptional merits under ‘Very Special Circumstances’, setting a high bar in planning terms. This landmark development, unanimously approved by the planning committee on behalf of Millennium Care UK Group, will deliver 48 en-suite dementia care bedrooms and 4 extra care apartment extensions, serving our most vulnerable community members. The project’s success was bolstered by the intricate 3D renderings from Alessandro Caruso Architects, which played a crucial role in bringing our joint vision to life and securing this approval. This project has been featured across multiple news outlets this month.

New state-of-the-art NHS mental health care unit
P&DG has successfully managed the hybrid planning application for a new, modern Mental Health Unit at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, achieving unanimous approval by committee vote. This project, appointed by the lead contractor, Tilbury Douglas, on behalf of the NHS Leicestershire Partnership Trust, will transform a 3.42-hectare site into a cutting-edge facility, featuring four adult acute mental health wards, an urgent care hub, and a neuromodulation centre. The initiative is part of a larger strategy to upgrade the hospital’s infrastructure, replacing the outdated Bradgate Unit to meet contemporary mental health care needs.
